Pharmacists contribute to the pharmaceutical care process by ensuring drug safety. There has been a growing use of herbal supplements among athletes. While these herbal products are used for their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and performance-enhancing effects, their effectiveness and safety have not yet been fully proven. Certain compounds, such as ginseng, caffeine, and ephedrine, have a stimulating effect on the central nervous system, thereby supporting muscle performance. However, some of these products may pose a doping risk and can also have negative effects on athlete health. Therefore, the conscious and safe use of herbal supplements under the guidance of a specialist is extremely important. Sports pharmacists play an active role in evaluating the safety of herbal and pharmaceutical products, informing athletes about potential interactions and prohibited substances, and creating individualized supplementation and treatment plans. This book is a literature review that evaluates the potential use of these herbal products in athletes in the context of their pharmacological effects, safety levels, and doping risks.
