For three centuries, souls longing to belong wholly to Jesus Christ have been led there by His Mother, in the way Saint Louis de Montfort set down in his True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin - the manuscript, lost for over a hundred years and found by accident in 1842, whose single daring idea is that the surest, shortest, easiest way to belong to Jesus is to belong first, and wholly, to Mary.
The Reign of Jesus through Mary makes that way a journey any soul can walk. It is Montfort's classic consecration set as a thirty-three-day retreat, in the four steps he prescribed:
- Days 1-12 - Knowledge of the World, and emptying oneself of its spirit
- Days 13-19 - Knowledge of Self
- Days 20-26 - Knowledge of the Blessed Virgin
- Days 27-33 - Knowledge of Jesus Christ
On the thirty-fourth day the reader makes the Act of Consecration in Montfort's own words, in the public-domain English of Father Frederick William Faber. Each day of the way brings a meditation, a saint's own voice on the day's theme, a traditional prayer of the Church, and a place to write. At its close the soul gives itself, wholly and for ever, to Jesus through Mary.
This edition includes:
