Miguel Bonnefoy nació en París en 1986 de padre chileno y madre venezolana. Creció a caballo entre Francia (país de origen de su bisabuelo), Caracas y Portugal y estudió Literatura en La Sorbona. Completamente bilingüe, decidió escribir en francés. Ha publicado varios libros de relatos: Quand on enferma le labyrinthe dans le Minotaure (Edizione del Giano, 2009) y Naufrages (Quespire, 2011), nominada para el Premio L'Inaperçu 2012. Fue galardonado con el Premio al Joven Escritor de Lengua Francesa en 2013. El viaje de Octavio, su primera novela, ha vendido más de 25.000 ejemplares en Francia y le ha valido el Premio Edmée de la Rochefoucauld para debutantes, el Premio Fénéon y el Premio de la Vocation. He received the Young Writer of the French Language Award in 2013. His first novel, El viaje de Octavio, sold more than 25,000 copies in France and earned him the Prix Edmée de la Rochefoucauld for debut fiction, the Prix Fénéon, and the Prix de la Vocation. In 2017 he published Azúcar negro (Sucre noir), which was immediately translated into several languages. His most recent novel, Herencia (Héritage), was a finalist for the Prix Goncourt 2020 and won the Prix des Libraires 2021.
