Poetry. At issue in these poems, written from the perspective of a professional taxidermist, is the contrast between the concepts of freedom found in Nature and that of property, the consumption of Nature and the ownership of one's self, one's body, one's language. These issues are relevant to our thinking about traditions, memories and property. Are we to preserve the land? Are we to cut a life from it? How do we preserve our sense of identity and place without stifling it?
