Long after conflicts between the Indians and settlers were thought to have ended, a young man traveling across the winter plains is drawn into aftermath of a deadly attack on a small ranch by a Comanche raiding party. The Indians are led by a Comanche boy whose vision quest has endowed him with magical powers to defeat the white people. When the traveler discovers the son of the rancher has been kidnapped, he agrees to go after the war party accompanied only by the wife and daughter of the rancher. During the pursuit across the plains, a disturbing romantic arises, but it cannot be recognized-they must stay alive.
