A chance visit to Egypt in 1873 by Amelia B. Edwards changed the future of British Egyptology forever. Her travelogue, A Thousand Miles Up the Nile, would inspire generations to take up her message to support Egyptian cultural heritage. While the way this is done has changed a lot since Amelia's time, her legacy remains strong. The new edition includes an introduction by the director of the EES and the curator of the Petrie Museum at UCL, clearly a labour of love for the two organizations ...
