Edward Morris is Associate Professor of Sociology and Gender and Women′s Studies at the University of Kentucky. His research interests include the intersections of race, class, and gender; sociology of education; and qualitative methods; and his work has appeared in Symbolic Interaction, Youth & Society, Sociology of Education, Gender & Society, and American Sociological Review. He has published two books: An Unexpected Minority: White Kids in an Urban School (Rutgers University Press 2006), and Learning the Hard Way: Masculinity, Place, and the Gender Gap in Education (Rutgers University Press 2012). Ed is currently the Secretary-Treasurer of the Race, Gender, and Class section of the American Sociological Association

Freeden Oeur is Assistant Professor of Sociology at Tufts University and a Faculty Affiliate with the University′s Program in Women′s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. His research interests are in the areas of masculinity and gender, education, children and youth, culture, and feminist theory. A current book project (under contract with the University of Minnesota Press) is an ethnography of two all-male public high schools. Other research examines the affective character of masculine dignity, cultural templates of urban masculinity, and the temporal dimensions of boyhood.
