Inspired by a doctor at the scene of a train wreck, young Buford decides to become a doctor. His dreams are crushed when forced to work in the family business. Disappointed, he abuses everyone around him. He later falls in love with an employee and becomes involved in a complex plot of murder and kidnapping with a daughter he didn't know he had.
