The book is about an eight year old boy named Michael, who has a question about his very special cat named Sasha. His quest to find the answer to his question goes from the morning breakfast table to the people and city officials that he meets on his way to school. His question is asked throughout his school day to friends and workers who seem to be at a lost for words when finding an answer to Michael's question, until his question was asked to his teacher, who seem to be the only person that gives Michael advice on who can help him find his answer.
